Cari McMurtry Garriga is a kind, smart, strong, and independent woman who wants to work for Covington’s bright future. She is a university professor, a yoga teacher, and a health and wellness coach.
Cari likes to read, cook, do activities outside, meditate, and spend time with friends. Originally from Puerto Rico, she has lived in Covington since 2014.

She is married to Todd McMurtry; they have three grown children: Ana Cristina (married to Jon Moore), Stephen (married to Elise Johns) and William. They have three grandchildren (Molly and JT Moore, and Kellen McMurtry).
The McMurtrys have been in Licking Riverside since 1963.
As Provost at Thomas More University, Cari managed a sizeable number of faculty and staff. She has experience working with difficult budgets and solving personnel issues.
This professional background, coupled with yoga and meditation training, make her suitable for mediation work and thoughtful discussion of personnel issues. She has the knowledge and is familiar with the procedures to enact effective city government.
